Welcome to Mittweida

In the tradition of 150 years of engineering education, Mittweida University of Applied Sciences has become future-oriented, cosmopolitan. Our teaching and research offers are taken up within the framework of regional and supra-regional cooperation, increasingly by small and medium-sized enterprises in Saxony. The spectrum of industry-related research and development is characterised by third-party funded research, cooperative doctoral projects, independently organised development work as well as projects of the institutes and research associations.

Mittweida University of Applied Sciences has four recognised research priorities on the research map of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK):

  • Laser Technologies
  • Product and process development
  • Digitalisation in economy and society
  • Applied computer science

The HRK's research priorities are evaluated regularly. Criteria include 1.2 million euros in third-party funding per year, the number of scientists, scientific publications and patent applications as well as cooperative doctoral procedures.
